Lymphatic Massage Colorado Springs

What is the lymphatic system?

The lymphatic system protects the body from infection and disease and consists of lymph vessels, lymph nodes, lymphocytes and lymph. Lymph is the interstitial fluid that flows through the vessels.  A healthy, active lymphatic system uses the natural movements of the body’s smooth muscle to achieve this.

Our bodies propel lymph through the our system through normal everyday activity.  Inactivity and recent bodily changes may be leaving your immune system compromised.  Incidentally, surgery or other damage causes fluids to build up in your lymph system and your lymph nodes, a condition known as lymphedema.

Why get a lymphatic massage in Colorado Springs?Lymphatic Massage Colorado Springs

Gentle massage technique is used to manually encourage the natural drainage of the lymph.  The purpose of lymph drainage is to carry waste away from the tissues and towards the heart by using light, rhythmic hand movements.  This specialized lymphatic medical massage will yield positive effects after recent surgeries, with certain autoimmune diseases and cosmetic procedures.  Dry brushing can be used in combination with lymph drainage massage at no extra charge.

Importantly, this procedure typically requires several visits in early succession and later tapering off as the positive effects begin to take place.  Regular maintenance lymphatic massages will also help prevent any new lymph buildup.

How long after surgery should I wait before receiving lymphatic massage in Colorado Springs?

Following your doctor’s recommendations, as early as 2-3 days post surgery might be medically necessary. We do however request that you be able to lie flat on the massage table for the entirety of your massage. Inability to do so may result in a canceled appointment.

Tips about your post surgery lymphatic massage in Colorado Springs:

  1. This is a light pressured massage; deep tissue massage is not advisable post op and will have less effect on the lymphatic system.
  2. You MUST be able to lie down for the entirety of the massage you booked.
  3. Drink water before as well as after your lymphatic massage. (Also prepare for extra trips to the restroom!)
  4. All sales, including packages, are non-refundable and our cancellation policy strictly applies.
  5. This treatment does not include incision drainage or puncturing as it is beyond our scope of practice as massage therapists.
