Sports Massage Reviews from Satisfied Clients
“I went to the Austin Bluffs location & had a 60-minute massage. It was absolutely divine! My therapist listened to what I wanted as I was having chronic tension headaches. The pressure was perfect, and she really did a fantastic job hitting all the right spots. I highly recommend Jessica! Thank you for a wonderful massage!”
- Donna O.
“This was hands down the best massage I’ve ever had! My massage therapist is amazing and absolutely talented at what she does. I felt like jello by the time she was done Highly recommend her!”
- Lydia S.
“I’ve been here twice now, and I recently had Katie. She absolutely helped fix a lot of lingering issues and focused on everything I told her was a problem for me. I already have a couple more trips planned back with my massage therapist, and I can’t recommend her and the staff enough. They are fantastic and worth every penny.”

What is a sports massage?
When is the best time to get a sports massage?
Sports massages and athletic massages have been proven to be effective pre- and post-event. Pre-event massage involves activating and stimulating the tissues to help prevent injury and cramping due to strain or repetitive use and enhance overall performance, usually this is on site of the event. Post-event massage is a great way to recover and reduce muscle soreness. (If you have questions, ask us!)
How often should I get a massage?
Physical activity can lead to injury or imbalances. Regular and specific massage techniques can help reduce the limiting effects of imbalances and tension, increasing performance and endurance. Our therapists will apply their knowledge and training to reduce fascia buildup and soreness. Whether you are an avid Crossfitter, a seasoned runner, or a competitive pickleball player, we are confident we can help you perform at your best and recover faster after your event. We recommend regular sports massage therapy or at least one session each month.
Will I be sore after my sports massage?
There’s a chance you might experience some soreness following your athletic massage therapy session. It really depends on your individual factors and needs, like you level of hydration, the intensity of your massage or if you’d like deep tissue bodywork. There should be minimal discomfort that goes away in about two days, leaving you with improved circulation, better flexibility, and less tension.
Do I need to drink water before and after my therapeutic sports massage?
If you’re an athlete, chances are you already drink a ton of water, and that is GREAT! We always ask our clients to be sure they’re not dehydrated before their sports massage. Being hydrated before your massage leads to better and longer lasting results and reduced soreness. After your massage therapist works their magic, you’ll want to drink more water and stretch often to help eliminate toxins.
What are the toxins in my body after a massage?
It’s your body that will release toxins thanks to your sports massage. No form of massage therapy will directly eliminate toxins from your body — that’s a job for your liver and kidneys to complete. All forms of this therapy, including sports massage, help address toxins (like lactic acid, common in athletic bodies) while also providing relaxation. (It’s a double win!)
Is it worth getting a Colorado Springs sports massage?
Absolute Body Balance regularly offers athletic massage and sports therapy to clients of all ages and stages of life. It’s worth it, even if you simply want to relax more. You can get relief from annoying aches, pains, and knots that tend to build up over time with activity as we age. These kinds of issues can be more intense and benefit from a little deep tissue massage. We always tell our clients that Colorado Springs deep tissue and sports massages are super similar, (that’s why we prefer the term therapeutic massage ourselves) but sports massages can be more targeted to fit your specific athletic needs.
